Another "exciting" Thursday

The day started off with me getting up kind of early, and still running a little late.  All right, I didn't get up that early and I had not that much time to get out of bed, get ready and eat breakfast.  We headed to Birkbeck for our BES and contemporary Britain course.  After our contemporary Britain class we have a seminar.  All of us were put into 4 groups so two groups went at 11 and the other two at 12.  I was in the 12:00 group.  A few people and myself headed to the University of London student union for some lunch.  We spent our time there for about 45 minutes before we headed back for our seminar.  Our seminar wasn't as bad as I was thinking, at least not this time around.  The professor just wanted to get to know us a little bit so we went around the room saying who we were, what we are studying and the new paper article we found.  The rest of the classes we will have a discussion on certain topics, each week a student will present about that topic and we have to discuss it I believe.  My topic is "rebranding of Britain - how is Britian and Britishness defined and understood today?"  Should be a good time.
After the seminar I headed with two other girls to Leicester Square where we met a few other girls who were holding spots for us for the Valentine's Day premiere.

The entrance
We had gotten there around 1:15 and the premiere wasn't supposed to start until 6 (awesome).  The movie has a very large well known cast, you think they'd all show up.  I sat down for most of that time, I squeezed between some people I didn't know and a girl from our group who had been there since about 12:30.  It was quite cold outside; sitting down my toes and fingers weren't too bad, but when I decided to stand up around 4:30, that was a different story.  I could definitely feel the cold.  The red carpet wasn't actually rolled out until about 6 or a little before, there were a lot of random people who came to the premiere.  I mean random as in a lot of people paid 300+ pounds to come to the premiere.  If I had that kind of  money, I probably would too.  Maybe, or I'll just wait until I work in LA and hopefully on a film set some day (fingers crossed).  All the television people were setting up as well, wishing I new more about types of cameras and more outgoing I could have struck up a conversation with one, maybe a future job ;)  Some came onto the red carpet area and were just shooting b-roll for their segments.  Those of you who do not know what b-roll is it is the video that covers up audio clippings in news segments and such.  No one wants to stare at a face for 5 minutes.  Some came down to our section and had a couple people do the double cheek kiss and then blow a kiss to the camera.  I did that with Abbey, then later they wanted us to yell Happy Valentine's day to the camera and blow a kiss, somewhat exciting 2 minutes.
The first of the stars was Topher Grace, who went straight to the television people, and was stuck there for a very long time.  There was a very long line of television folk.  After that I believe was Gary Marshall, the director.

Gary Marshall
He came down our row, but decided to skip over our group.  I really wanted his autograph, oh well.  Ashton was there with Demi as well.

They headed straight to the photographers and then Demi headed inside.  Ashton pretty much did the same thing and skipped over us so we didn't really get autographs.

One of the girls in our group made a sign saying we were from Iowa.  He looked at it and pretty much said what are you doing here?  I might've done the same thing.  But London is a little better than Iowa ;)  Hector Elizondo was there as well, he has been in, I believe, all of Gary Marshall's movies.

Hector Elizondo
I did get his autograph.  Emma Roberts came, too, in ridiculously high heels, I don't know how she walked.

Best I could get: Emma Roberts
I got her autograph as well, and when topher Grace made his rounds to fans I got a piece of paper signed by him, as well.

Jessica Alba came as well, but she completely passed over our section.  Not necessarily on purpose.  She was headed our way when the telly people took her and then she went way past us to other people and then went for a little interview and then headed inside.
Over all it was kind of wonderful to see all them, at the same time I question whether it was worth sitting outside for 6 hours in the grueling cold, just for pictures and a few autographs.  Yes, I may never meet them again, but still.  When we first started to walk, after standing in one place for 2 hours and my toes slowly freezing off, it felt very strange to walk.  It was bad, by the time we got VH I think my feet thawed a little bit, but I came straight to my room, changed into sweatpants, took my cold socks off and sat on my feet.  I looked at them about 5/10 minutes later, they're starting to turn a darker color :o) yikes!  I then quickly rub them to get circulation flowing because I definitely do not want frost bite or, well, anything bad happening to my toes.  All is well though.  All cold-ness has ceased.  Later that night I watched The Ugly Truth, for once I actually want the actress to end up with the guy no one expects her to end up with.  Nothing was wrong with Colin!  That's how most movies are though, the people who hate each other in the beginning get together.  Maybe I should write my own :s  We'll see.  I'll write about my Friday later on, or tomorrow, whichever one comes first.  Still not up to much this weekend.  I really want a day to just hang out at VH and recuperate from the cold.  Hope everyone has a fantastic day or night.  Cheers
