Liverpool Adventures, in a way

Friday morning we headed off to Liverpool.  A very early morning for most of us.  As I was not feeling well, with some stomach pains, on Thursday I ended up eating one spoonful of cereal.  We hopped on the coach, the bus, that happened to be double decker (because there are so many of us students).  We drove for almost three hours before we stopped at a rest area where we got to get out and walk around for about 30 minutes.  It was nice to get out and wake up a bit, as I had been sleeping pretty much the whole ride.  When we left the stop we headed for Chester.  It is a nice town with a lot of history.  The town has city walls that date back to Roman times, and are the most complete in Britain.  Also there is a 1000 year old cathedral in the city.  I walked with Carissa, Allison and Kiley around Chester for the couple hours we had.

We walked along the wall for a bit and then went into part of the city.  We did see the Eastgate clock which we were told is the most photographed clock in the world.

On our way down the street we were stopped by a man making balloon animals, anything.  So we all ended up with balloons, I got a "poodle" hat, :p  And for the last couple minutes he kept telling us that a donation of a pound would be nice.  We ended up giving him a pound and were on our way.  Of course, not very happy about it.

We then headed towards the Cathedral.  We didn't go inside because you had to pay, but we did get some pictures of the outside of it.  It was quite beautiful.

We then went in search of something to eat.  As I was not feeling good for most of the day and a little worse around the time we found food I didn't eat.  We found our way back and got on the bus for a shorter drive to Liverpool.  After we got there we had a couple hours to kill before out Shiverpool tour thing that night.  I had sent some money with a couple girls to get me some crackers if they found any and I just slept for that time.  No crackers were ever found so I didn't have supper, that's ok.  We walked a long ways to get to the Philharmonic pub, that Paul and John used to drink at, and there we started our shiverpool tour.  It was not as scary as I was expecting, thank goodness, and interesting to hear about crazy things that have gone on in Liverpool.  That was an hour tour and afterward we headed back to the pub.  It was quite crowded and nowhere to sit so a few of us left.  I sat in the lobby with a few people for a while and then headed up to my room where I headed for bed.
Saturday was a little busier more active day, in a way.  In the morning we got a free breakfast, still not feeling well so I had a piece of toast.  P.S. - bacon is different here.  Anyway, we went on a coach tour of Liverpool.  On the we saw some of the things in the city and even got to see some Beatles things as well.  For The Beatles, we saw where they first played as a band and one of the last places they played as well; The Cavern Club.  I don't have a picture of the Cavern Club, but I have one of the Cavern Pub which is right across the way from it.

Not a very good picture, but you get the point

On out tour, we also drove down Penny Lane, where out tour guide played that song, and it ended up being stuck in my head the rest of the day :)  I don't mind, I love The Beatles music!

We saw some of the sites too that are mentioned in the song, I can't remember the lines of the song but here are pictures...

After we did the coach tour we were dropped off at Albert Dock and left to do whatever we wanted to for the rest of the day.  I went with Carissa, Allison and Kiley for the afternoon.  We walked to Liverpool One, which is a very big outdoor shopping mall.  Huge, really.  The other girls got some pasty's for lunch which are a pastry dough with cheese or meats inside.  I didn't eat because I still wasn't feeling one hundred percent.  We walked and tried to find the Cavern Club by foot, but as there were two 06's on the map, we went to the wrong one :(  Oh well I suppose.  We then headed to the Anglican Cathedral or the Liverpool Cathedral.  We went to it the night before during the Shiverpool tour, of course at that time we were more near the cemetery.

The other girls went and did the tower experience which you got to go up to the tour and see the view.  As I still wasn't feel up to par I stayed behind.  I lit a prayer candle for my aunt and then headed to sit down and listened to the choir practice.  I might have taken a little snooze...Shhh.  It was so peaceful though.  Later a service had started so I kind of kept my head down during that (kind of tired still).  I listened to the music and to the priest, maybe, talk some.  It was a shorter service.  Just singing and reading of some passages.  A nice service overall.  Shortly after the service was over the girls got back and we headed back to the hostel.  I stopped at a noodle bar and got some supper.  Hoping it would settle well with my stomach.  It took about 15-20 minutes for my food and I headed on back.  About a minute into my walk I pass a small group of boys and then girls.  I walk past them, I don't even think I really looked at that, and something hit my head.  Oh yes, gum was thrown at my head.  I turn around and stare at the girls and one of them is pointing to the boys, one of which turns to me says "f" you (the whole "f" word) and gives me the finger.  What I did to that little boy I don't know.  Right now though, I'm wishing I would have beat him up.  But, of course, I never would have.  I just stared at him, turned around and walked away.  Wishing I had gave him the finger back, but again I did not.  I think I was more shocked.  Stupid kid....boy I oughta.  Anyway, I made it back to the hostel safe and sound, after a long walk.  Oh, by the way, it was pretty cold out.  And after being in a cold cathedral for some time does not help.  I was literally sitting in the cathedral shivering.  Ok, back on task (I just keep forgetting to mention things).  I got to my room and started putting my  chicken noodle soup together; there was quite a lot.  I didn't end up eating half of it.  My chest started hurting again so I stopped.  I gave my dad a call and did wish him a happy birthday.    Some of the girls were in our room getting ready for the night so we talked for a while.  I eventually crawled into bed, the heartburn had gotten worse.  I slept some and then one of my roommates for the weekend came and and thankfully had some heartburn medicine.  It worked well, but still sometimes the pain would come back.  After people were in and out of the room for a while I finally got to sleep.  I slept much better Saturday night than Friday night.  Friday was a horrible night of sleep, my back was hurting from bad mattresses and I was very warm all night, so not comfortable.  Saturday I maybe woke up a couple times.  Also back to something else I forgot to mention...the people who were staying above us.  There was a very big football match on Saturday, I believe both Liverpool teams were playing each other, and I think I realized this Saturday, that we have some football hooligans staying above us.  You might think, oh cool.  Definitely not.  Friday night they woke us in the middle of the night with stomping and yelling.  Saturday, holy cow!  From about 7-10 they were stomping and yelling.  Pretty much non stop.  So horrible, I swear if they kept stomping they were going to land in our room.  I finally heard no more footsteps up there around 10 or so and heard them yelling out in the parking lot, they were heading out for the night.  Phew, and when they got back, no stomping.  If they had stomped I didn't hear it :)
Sunday I got up, had a piece of toast and packed for out ride back.  We drove about 3 hours or maybe a little less before we stopped for some food.  Oh, yes I was feeling a little better at this point :)  When we stopped I grabbed some Burger King.  I enjoyed that the buns weren't flat, it looked like it came from a commercial.  I wish I could have finished it but I felt some pain coming back so I stopped myself.  The rest of the way I slept and when we got to London I stayed awake to see more of the city, that I don't usually see when wandering by myself.  When we got back I just came to my room and have been here ever since.  I ordered some pizza hut online.  They have a deal for a small pizza mia, pasta, or clazone with a side and a pop for 7.99 pounds.  I didn't feel like making noodles or chicken again so I gave myself a treat.  I also watched Invictus, a very good movie.  It would be much better if it weren't loading every 5 seconds.  haha That's what I get.  I'm not sure what my plans are for Monday, probably taking it easy.  I did find a Chipotle in London, so I may try it out :D  Also...eeeeeee...I had a Pepsi tonight.  For drink it was either Pepsi or Pepsi Max, and Kiley doesn't really drink it so I decided to drink it myself.  Still tastes good!  I'll try and refrain from drinking anymore of it.  Now that the movie is over I may finish unpacking and take my trash downstairs.  Have a good night or day everyone!  Cheers

P.S. - I'm sure I forgot stuff but I can always fill you in later ;)
