Rainy day

I am not one for going an walking in the rain especially if it's chilly outside.  Of course when I woke up this morning I didn't know it was going to rain.  I just checked the temperature, just the temperature.  It was in the 40s, sweet.  I get outside, not so sweet.  I decide to head out anyways, otherwise I'll be another bum in my room, like at night.  I decided to head to Portobello Road today.  The one in Notting Hill.  The small town/area Notting Hill, not the movie, though I'm sure it was in the movie.  Anyway, I had to make a couple changes on the tube to get there.  I got on at St. James Park and headed to Hammersmith.  Of course I didn't get on the exact right train so I had to get off at Earl's Court and change to the district line that would take me to Hammersmith.  Once in Hammersmith, to get to the Hammersmith & City line, you have to leave one of the stations and go to another.  I was a little lost, I started walking outside, then headed back in the other direction to see if I had actually been going in the right direction and I had, so I peaked my head to the outside more and saw a sign.  You have to cross the street to get to the other station, goodness gracious!  What I saw of Hammersmith, I didn't like.  I don't know why, but I just didn't like it.  I finally got on another train and headed to Ladbroke Grove, where I was getting off to head to Portobello Road.  Got off there and headed for the "market".  I don't know when they have their real market but there were some food stalls, but other than that just stores on the road with a lot of different things to buy.  I did go into another shoe store :s  I wasn't going to buy anything until the lady said there was a massive clearance sale, two pairs for 35 pounds :o)  So I ended up getting two pairs of shoes.  I swear I won't buy anymore shoes.  Unless I find a cheap pair of boots.  Which I may look if I go back to Camden Road.  I do want to go back there to try on that one dress; yes, I want to buy a dress for Matt's rehearsal dinner.  I just have to keep telling myself now that I won't buy anymore shoes.  Stupid exchange rate.  After that I headed up some street, I had no idea where I was.  I finally made it to a busy street, and saw a sign so I could find where the nearest tube station was.  I did not want to go back to Ladbroke Grove.  And...there was a station right around the corner!  I headed back to VH, made some lunch, noodles.  Then sat around for the rest of the day.  I would have gone to Strutton Groube, but by the time I made it back to the city it was raining harder, and since I don't like to walk in the rain I stayed in instead :)  Watched some telly too.
This weekend I will be doing things though :)  We are leaving, very early, Friday morning for Liverpool.  We are stopping at Chester first for a couple hours and then head the rest of the way.  We will be doing a ghost tour, having a tour of Liverpool and a free day to wander.  Then having a 5 hour ride on Sunday, yay (sarcasm).
P.S. - I have a day trip booked for Stratford-Upon-Avon for March 20th with Hannah and Coery!  So excited!  First trip planned :s  I should get on that.  I still have no idea what I want to do for spring break either.  I was thinking of going to Rome to visit Morgan, but I may make that a weekend trip.  Sorry Morgan, I'm not sure I want to spend 8 days in just Rome.  You understand, you're probably going all over the place for yours.  But anyway, I was looking at the STA travel site and found a little sailing trip around Croatia, awesome!  But I don't want to do that by myself, not as fun.  I'll maybe ask around and see what's going on.  All right, off I go to figure out what my Wednesday is going to be like until class at 2.  Cheers

  1. FYI:
    - It is the Notting Hill in the movie.
    - Hammersmith is crap.
    - The 'real' (e.g. full) market is on Saturday (followed closely by Friday). The rest of the week it's mostly fruit & veg and for locals, but the area still has its charms.
    - Learn to take buses - it's well worth it.
    - If you do take the tube, don't change more than once and remember that it can sometimes be quicker to get out & walk than to change.
    - Good luck & have fun!
