March 21st
We slept in this morning which felt very nice. I finally got up a little after 9:30 to take a shower and get ready for another day of site seeing with my sister. When we were finally ready to take on the day we made ourselves some mac and cheese and headed out to the tube station. We headed to St. Paul's Cathedral, which we walked around, and then we crossed over Millennium Bridge. We passed by the New Globe Theatre, and since it was a nice day we treated ourselves to some ice cream. When we were done with our ice cream we headed to where the old Globe Theatre once stood. We then headed to Westminster to get better pictures of Big Ben and the London Eye. We walked across Westminster Bridge, towards the aquarium and the London Eye. I then found out that London has a film museum, that was added to my list of many things to see before I leave in May :s I need to start doing those soon! We walked around by the London Eye, we didn't get on, as it is very expensive to ride, so we got some pictures instead. We started heading back towards VH, we stopped at a street vendor so Rachel could get some postcards. We then headed back where we figured out where we would go next. We wanted to see Abbey Road, but it was a bit too far, so we ended up going to the V&A Museum where we looked at the fashion section. After that we headed back so we could make a quick supper and get Rachel to the airport. We had tortellini for supper and then headed to the tube station to get Rachel on her way. I decided that we would go up to Paddington Station then take the Heathrow Express, thinking it would be faster. Luckily we got there about 3 minutes before it was going to take off so we hopped on. We got to terminals 1,2,3 where we had to wait for a connecting train to terminal 4. It eventually arrived but once most people boarded it stayed there in case anyone else came along. Rachel was kind of freaking out hoping she wouldn't miss her flight. I tried to reassure her that she would be fine. We finally were on out way and made it to terminal 4. We got Rachel checked in and got her bag checked as well. I walked with her to security where I had to remind her I couldn't go through with her, as she had started walking into the roped off area. We said a very quick goodbye and she was on her way. I waited until I couldn't see her anymore and I started walking back to the train. It was hard saying goodbye, especially after having her here for a week. I fought back the tears though and finally made it back to VH where I made popcorn and ate my peanut butter m&ms. Then off to bed it was for me. Cheers
It really was great having Rachel come and visit and showing her around. Though she doesn't care much for just walking and prefers guided things, we had a really good time. Her visit made me excited for my parents to come and visit! I do like having people around that I can talk with and go places with. As I am used to walking around by myself and just doing things by myself in general now, it will be good to show them where I have been living for the past months.
